How to Add Question Modules

Learn about variety of traditional and unique question types available for use

Updated over a week ago

Question modules are the foundation of any research study. Including modules in your survey allows you to create question types that will make up your data set. Within a GroupSolver study, various traditional and unique question types are available.

To add GroupSolver question types, open the Study design of your desired study. You can find this by entering the study from your Home or the Studies tab.

Like with other GroupSolver modules, select the "+" within the study flow in the appropriate area where you'd like to add a question type. You will see a variety of options to choose from. Click "Question."

When you select this option, a drop-down menu pops up, allowing you to choose which type of question you want to add.

The most frequently used question types in the drop-down menu are AI Open-End, Choice, and Matrix.

Additionally, this menu is where you can find open-text response options. The most commonly used of these is the "Text" question type. There are also options for automatically formatting these answers as integers, numbers, amounts, or dates if necessary.

Finally, there are specifically formatted text options for demographic questions such as email, zip code, and phone numbers.

Under "Questions," there is a list of options to choose from:

-AI Open-End: the GroupSolver open-ended question. AI Open-End questions use GroupSolver proprietary technology to collect and quantify natural language answers to open-ended questions.

-Choice: choice questions allow respondents to pick from the options provided by you, an excellent option for collecting quantitative data.

-Image Choice: closed-ended question with the option to insert visuals.

-Matrix: Matrix questions allow you to ask one question about multiple attributes (matrix rows), which will be all evaluated using the same options (matrix columns).

-Image Matrix: matrix question with the option to insert visuals.

-Allocation: Allocation questions let respondents assign points to presented options. You can limit available points to assign by setting the limit value.

-Ranking: Ranking questions ask respondents to compare a list of items and assign them value in the order of preference.

Under "Formatted text," there are question types that are less common but still useful for gathering respondent data.

-Text: A Free Text box for open responses. Most commonly used for "Other (please specify)" situations. You can find the information in the Free Text visual report using these question types.

-Automatically Formatted Text: If necessary, there are also options for automatically formatting these answers: Integers, Numbers, Amounts, Dates, Email, Zip Code, and Phone Number.
