AI Open-End™

The AI Open-End™ Visual Report allows you to uncover valuable insights through a simplistic, yet effective, bar-graph layout

Updated over a year ago

The AI Open-End™ Visual Report allows you to uncover valuable insights through a simplistic yet effective bar-graph layout. Within the graph, you can see which answers resonate most with the crowd. The report lays out the answers to a specific open-end question while displaying correlating support statistics.

This visualization crystallizes the open-ended process that takes place as respondents are filtered through the survey. Through the three phases of the AI Open-Ended process, support statistics are gathered, and you can see which answers in the dataset are top-of-mind with the audiences you are interested in understanding.

Accessing the report

To open an AI Open-End™ report, navigate to the top of your Study design and click "Reports." This will open an overlay with all reports that have already been created within the study. Click the AI Open-End™ question you would like to analyze and select "AI Open-End™."

The steps above will open the report that was automatically generated and includes all segments. If you want to create a new report with the specific segments, click on the question you would like to analyze and click "Add new."

Note: Refer to the Building Segments article in our Help Center for more information.

Answer view

You may immediately notice that some bars are colored, and others are gray. This is due to our AutoThemes™ feature working on the back end as respondents provide their answers.

To read the report, you can hover over each bar to see the answer, the corresponding letter it's been assigned to, and its support strength.

In this example above, you can see that answer "A," "They say it's a coping mechanism," has a high support strength of 83%. This means it's expected that 83% of those who viewed this answer would select that they "agree" with this answer.

Comparably, the answer "AA," "They do naughty things," did not resonate with the crowd as this answer would only be supported by 44% of the target survey population.

You can view all respondent data by scrolling down, where you'll see a list of all answers given to your chosen dataset.

The first three numbers indicate whether the respondents agreed, were neutral, or disagreed with the Answer.

Next are the support strength (%) and the confidence interval (%).

Theme view

To learn more about how our themes work, click on "Themes."

When you look at the chart, you can see that it changed and displays Themes instead of Answers. Our AI has automatically grouped the Answers into Themes so that you don't have to do it manually.

You'll notice within the visuals that varying colors appear, and other answers appear grey. AutoThemes™ has separated answers into categories located at the top of the visual. Sometimes themes may not be categorized as you like them to be. You can modify this in the "AI Open-End manager™" tab.

There is also a table below each chart. This table displays the Theme itself and the Number of answers the particular Theme contains. Next to it is the Theme support (%).

Sorting and filtering

There are two ways to sort the chart.

The first is to click on the two arrows above the chart. This will open the sorting options. Here you can add or remove various sorting options.

The second is to click the column label in the chart table. In the example below, you can see that the data is sorted by the Letter in ascending order and by the Expected support in descending order.

To filter your data, click on the filter icon above your chart. This will open up the filtering options. To add a new filter, click "Add filter" in the top-right corner of the drop-down menu.

Managing segments

If you want to view the answers to only a specific demographic, click on "Data" above the chart. This will open a drop-down where you can manage the segments.

If you want to add a new segment, click "Add segment." You can change the order of your segments by dragging and dropping them in the new location. If you want to remove a segment, click the down-facing arrow and select "Remove."

You can also show "Top unthemed answers" in your chart by toggling the option.

Note: Learn more about managing segments in our Building Segments article.
