IntelliSegment is a helpful visual report that allows you to find the differences or similarities between two or four distinct segments. For example, this would be a great tool if you want to see the difference in support strengths between men and women to a particular question. You may find that women have a higher support strength for a specific answer to an open-end, and men have a lower support strength for that same answer. IntelliSegment can help you find answers that resonate with varying audiences.
Accessing the report
To open an IntelliSegment™ report, navigate to the top of your Study design and click "Reports." This will open an overlay with all reports that have already been created within the study. Click the AI Open-End™ question you would like to analyze and select "IntelliSegment™."
The steps above will open the automatically generated report and includes four segments. If you want to create a new report with the specific segments, click on the question you want to analyze and click "Add new."
Note: Refer to the Building Segments article in our Help Center for more information.
Reading the report
In the IntelliSegment report, you can have two or four segments on the chart. You can choose which segment goes on which axes in the "Data" tab.
For charts with four segments, it is best to have opposite segments on opposite sides of the chart. For example, if you want to look at men, women, those under the age of 35, and those over 50, it would be best to put Over 50 and Under 35 on the “T(op)” and “B(ottom)” This leaves men and women for “L(eft)” and “R(ight).”
After the report is created, you will see a dotted, diagonal line run through the center of the graph. A bubble that lies on that line means that the support strength is pretty much the same between the two segments as it lies in the center of the quadrant. A bubble far away from the line and closer to one segment on the graph means that it is more highly supported by one segment than the other.
If you hover over a bubble, you will notice that more information will pop out in a box format. This shows the different support strengths between the segments, the total support strength, and the theme name. If you click on the bubble, the box will pop out entirely and remain stationary for easier readability.
You can edit the information displayed in the box when stationary. You can also hide the answer bubble by clicking the crossed-eye icon. If you click a star icon, the bubble with the box will become highlighted.
The information in the box can also be found by scrolling beneath the chart, where you can find a list of all the answers and their correlating support strengths.
There are two report views that you can choose from:
Theme view - this view displays themes together with the unthemed answers. The unthemed answers' bubbles are of grey color.
Answer view - this view displays answers on the QuantQual chart.
You can toggle between these views by selecting "Themes" or "Answers" above the chart.
Sorting and filtering
There are two ways to sort the table underneath the chart.
The first is to click on the two arrows above the chart. This will open the sorting options. Here you can add or remove various sorting options.
The second is to click the column label in the chart table. The example below shows that the data is sorted by the Letter in ascending order and by the Support Strength and Total Expected Support in descending order.
To filter your data, click on the filter icon above your chart. This will open up the filtering options. To add a new filter, click "Add filter" in the top-right corner of the drop-down menu.
Managing segments
If you want to view only a specific demographic's answers, click "Data" above the chart. This will open a drop-down where you can manage the segments.
In the IntelliSegment report, you can have two or four segments on the chart. You can select this on the top-right of the drop-down by selecting "2 axes" or 4 "axes."
When four axes are selected, there are four columns:
T stands for the Top part of the vertical axe.
R stands for the Right part of the horizontal axe.
B stands for the Bottom part of the vertical axe.
L stands for the left part of the horizontal axe.
If you want to change the segment, click the down-facing arrow next to the segment name and select "Change."
Note: Learn more about managing segments in our Building Segments article.
