Updated over a year ago

Closed-ended questions can also take the form of Ranking questions. This specific question type provides respondents with a range of options that they can rank and assign value to. The GroupSolver Ranking Answers report allows you to see which ideas are more or less important to your audience.

Accessing the report

To open a Ranking Answers report, navigate to the top of your Study design and click "Reports." This will open an overlay with all reports that have already been created within the study. Click the Ranking question you would like to analyze and select "Ranking Answers."

The steps above will open the report that was automatically generated and includes all segments. If you want to create a new report with the specific segments, click on the question you want to analyze and click "Add new."

Note: Refer to the Building Segments article in our Help Center for more information.

Reading the report

The Choice Answers report is visualized in a bar graph or donut chart format. By default, the bar graph will appear, with each graph column identified with a letter. This letter corresponds to a particular answer choice, which can be located by hovering over the column or by looking at the Table below the graph.

You'll notice a few things when hovering over a bar—its answer and the corresponding letter, the answer's preference score, and its average score.

Preference score: This number denotes the reversed weighted average, calculated as respondents rank the question answers.

Average: This is the average ranking of the scores among the answer options. You can easily see which answer was ranked the highest by hovering above the bar graph and denoting which answer has the highest average.

Similarly to our other visual reports, if you scroll down, you will see all the answer options available for this question and their corresponding statistics.

Sorting and filtering

There are two ways to sort the chart.

The first is to click on the two arrows above the chart. This will open the sorting options. Here you can add or remove various sorting options.

The second is to click the column label in the chart table. The example below shows that the data is sorted by the Letter in ascending order.

To filter your data, click on the filter icon above your chart. This will open up the filtering options. To add a new filter, click "Add filter" in the top-right corner of the drop-down menu.

Managing segments

If you want to view the answers to only a specific demographic, click on "Data" above the chart. This will open a drop-down where you can manage the segments.

If you want to add a new segment, click "Add segment." You can change the order of your segments by dragging and dropping them in the new location. To remove a segment, click the down-facing arrow and select "Remove."
