Multiple-choice questions are also called closed-ended questions. This type of question provides respondents with a defined set of answers to choose from. GroupSolver's visual reporting for Choice Answers lets you see the overall response to a question, divide by segments, exclude specific answers, and more.
Accessing the report
To open a Choice Answers report, navigate to the top of your Study design and click "Reports." This will open an overlay with all reports that have already been created within the study. Click the Choice question you would like to analyze and select "Choice Answers."
The steps above will open the report that was automatically generated and includes all segments. If you want to create a new report with the specific segments, click on the question you want to analyze and click "Add new."
Note: Refer to the Building Segments article in our Help Center for more information.
Reading the report
The Choice Answers report is visualized in a bar graph or donut chart format. By default, the bar graph will appear, with each graph column identified with a letter. This letter corresponds to a particular answer choice, which can be located by hovering over the column or by looking at the Table below the graph.
The answers are presented in the original order from the question in the study, and the height of each bar represents the support strength for that answer. When hovering over a column, you will also see the support strength from the total survey population for that answer choice.
Beneath the chart, all Choice Answers in the graph are listed in the table. Each answer is presented with a letter next to it. This letter corresponds to a column on the bar graph.
Sorting and filtering
There are two ways to sort the chart.
The first is to click on the two arrows above the chart. This will open the sorting options. Here you can add or remove various sorting options.
The second is to click the column label in the chart table. The example below shows that the data is sorted by the Letter in ascending order.
To filter your data, click on the filter icon above your chart. This will open up the filtering options. To add a new filter, click "Add filter" in the top-right corner of the drop-down menu.
Managing segments
If you want to view the answers to only a specific demographic, click on "Data" above the chart. This will open a drop-down where you can manage the segments.
If you want to add a new segment, click "Add segment." You can change the order of your segments by dragging and dropping them in the new location. To remove a segment, click the down-facing arrow and select "Remove."
