The GroupSolver Free Text report illustrates verbatim respondent data given during a study

Updated over a year ago

The GroupSolver Free Text report illustrates verbatim respondent data given during a study. One would refer to the Free Text report if they wanted to ask an open-ended question that would not need to go through our Consolidation and Evaluation phases. For example, if one were to ask, “what is your position in your company?” there would be no need for other respondents to evaluate and “agree” or “disagree” with any answers given. Free Text very straightforwardly delivers the study’s verbatim responses in a word cloud style for simplistic reading.

Accessing the report

To open a Free Text report, navigate to the top of your Study design and click "Reports." This will open an overlay with all reports that have already been created within the study. Click the Text question you would like to analyze and select "Freetext."

The steps above will open the report that was automatically generated and includes "All completes" as the starting segment. If you want to create a new report with a different starting segment, click on the question you would like to analyze and click "Add new."

Note: Refer to the Building Segments article in our Help Center for more information.

Reading the report

You can view the verbatims in the Word Cloud representation or the table view underneath.

The verbatims are color-coded to improve readability. On top of that, they are of different sizes based on the number of respondents that the particular verbatim received. You can view the respondent count in the table beneath the Word Cloud.

Sorting and filtering

There are two ways to sort the table underneath the chart.

The first is to click on the two arrows above the chart. This will open the sorting options. Here you can add or remove various sorting options.

The second is to click the column label in the chart table. The example below shows that the data is sorted by the Letter in ascending order and by the Support Strength and Total Expected Support in descending order.

To filter your data, click on the filter icon above your chart. This will open up the filtering options. To add a new filter, click "Add filter" in the top-right corner of the drop-down menu.

Managing segments

If you want to view the answers to only a specific demographic, click on "Data" above the chart. This will open a drop-down where you can manage the segments.

If you want to change a segment, click "All completes."

Note: Learn more about managing segments in our Building Segments article.

Chart options

If you want to change the report's name, you can do so in the Chart Options under "Title."
